The Vernon garden is a place where Vernon students can experience the joy of growing and harvesting food. Created in 2006, this garden has flourished through partnerships with Growing Gardens, the Vernon S.U.N. program, and support of the students, parents, and teachers who work hard to maintain this garden space.
The S.U.N. program has backed the Garden since it’s inception offering after school gardening classes for kindergarten through 5th graders. Currently the S.U.N program offers two garden classes: Garden Club and Cooking from the Garden. In Garden Club we teach kindergarten through 2nd graders hands-on science, nutrition, and garden education. The Cooking from the Garden class was recently gifted a $2,000 cooking kit by Growing Gardens, and we’re grateful for their generosity!
